Gaur Rajputs

Located in Hardoi district, UP, it was settled 10 generations ago by Thakur Makarand Singh who came to the rescue of local Hindus who were being troubled by Pathan Zamindars from Nigohi. Makarand Singh setup Turteepur village and was honorably given Zamindari in the Oudh province among 84 other Gaur Rajputs. It was well known in the region that even the British required his permission to arrest a criminal from the village. Makarand Singh Ji was of the Amethia subclan of Gaurs in Oudh provinces. The village is a ten minute ride from the city of Hardoi (Turteepur's location)
