Earlier Kuchaman (Nagaur district) was ruled by the Gaur Kshatriyas and the fort was first constructed by Gaurs, at that time they held same power as Jodhpur and Amber till the Battle of Dharmat. 

They ruled kuchaman till 1658, then it was annexed by the Rathore ruler Raghunath Singh mertiya with the help of Jodhpur and Aurangzeb. After that Gaurs had to migrate to the other parts of Rajputana and they established different thikanas. Gaurs ruled abundant of Territories in that era.
